Is it even worth it?

“What does growth mean to us?”

Recently among our leadership team, we’ve been asking ourselves this question a lot.

Should we grow?

Why should we grow?

How should we grow?

Company growth is such a buzzword, it feels difficult to even engage in conversations about it without immediately recoiling in disgust…dollar signs, more employees, cooler/busier cafés – all those typical metrics of success feel toxic and repulsive. Especially when we think about where it all started for us, and why we even do what we do every day.

Cathedral exists to allow space to develop and sustain meaningful relationships, with both our guests, and our staff.

We want to call you by name when you walk in the door, and care for our team really, really well.

At the end of the day…we want to grow in our capacity to do those two things even more. Even better.

The larger we become, the more resource there is to directly care for our people on a financial level. The busier our cafés, the more people we get to say hey to and take care of every day. The more we grow, the more we will all personally grow.

And that’s why growth is worth something to us. We are so excited to be growing (together) towards better executing our mission of being a presence of joy and hope to our neighborhood.

Thanks for coming along for the ride!
